We were commissioned to build and install a pair of bespoke made hardwood garden gates in Dorchester. The customer had recently completed a new entrance porch extension. They required a stylish pair of our Classic Gates to secure the side access of the property. Our estimators completed a site visit and discussed all the requirements in detail with the customer. Our skilled carpenters then began to construct the hardwood gates in our Dorset workshop. Iroko was chosen as the timber to use which is renowned for being incredibly hard wearing, tough, dense wood with a rich coloured grain.

After care

Hardwood gates like these require very little after care. If left to weather naturally the wood will take on a more silvery look. However if you wish to revitalise the rich colour of the Iroko then you can simply light sand and then apply a few coats of teak oil with a cloth. It is best to do this in temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius so the wood grain can more easily absorb the oil.

We do recommend protecting your Iroko gate and cleaning it from time to time, but you’ll find that the upkeep is much easier than with some other types of wood!
