The story so farIn 1982, John Bright Fencing was founded by husband and wife John and Bridget Bright. Daughter Beth was welcomed into the family business later in 2003.Initially, fencing was the main focus but as the company grew, larger premises were purchased at Salway Ash, Bridport and the country store opened in 1994.Today, the Salway Ash site has a country store, workshop and acts as a base for our Dorset fencing teams.Experienced teams install industrial, agricultural, domestic and garden fencing using post and rail, stock, close-board or parkland from a range of materials.Craftsmen use wood and metal to create gates, doors, dog kennels and poultry houses in the extensive on site workshop. Bespoke designs can also be built to your specification.You’ll find everything you need at the country store, from a good pair of wellington boots to a well built rabbit hutch, and really great service. Well worth a visit.Meet The Team John Bright – Managing DirectorEven though John started fencing back in 1982, he still has a passion for finding solutions for every customer. Bridget Bright – DirectorKeeps the office and shop in ship shape, with a laugh along the way. Beth Bright – Purchasing ManagerStarted in 2003. Gets a kick out of dealing with agricultural customers and getting them the best prices. She loves a chat, and will never be seen turning down a cup of tea! Greg – CarpenterStarted in 2014. Greg came to us with years (he isn’t that old) of experience in workshop and on site work. Nick – FencerStarted in 2005. Nick is a highly experienced fencer and has trained many of the younger fencers. In his free time, Nick loves a picturesque walk with his dogs around the local area and many other beautiful locations further afield. Nick (Rabbit) – FencerStarted in 2007. Rabbit is often found on an agricultural or industrial site. He is passionate about birds and manages the Dorset area for the Birdline Parrot Rescue charity. Rob – FencerStarted in 2014. Rob is great on the agricultural fencing team as he comes from a farming background and looks after his own sheep alongside his young family. Josh – MD AssistantStarted in 2015. John’s right hand man, Josh is in charge of keeping everything tidy to John’s high standard. He can often be found around the yard, in the workshop, or on site fencing – a real jack of all trades! Colin – Deliveries & YardStarted in 2021. Colin comes from a military background, so you know your delivery will be on time! On a weekend, you can find Colin riding either a motorbike or a horse. Philip – Sales TeamStarted in 2001. Philip loves dealing with customers and is always keen to help. He specialises in sheds and summerhouses, and knows everywhere in Dorset so has no excuses for getting lost! Anne – Sales TeamStarted in 2015. Coming from a DIY background, Anne really knows her stuff and isn’t afraid of getting stuck into this male dominated industry! Andy – Sales TeamStarted in 2022. Andy is the newest member of our sales team, but has quickly taken in so many aspects of the job. He loves a scenic walk at the weekend or a bike ride home from work. Craig – Sales TeamStarted in 2022. Craig comes from a horticultural background and is the go-to for any landscaping and garden furniture advice. Bex – FinanceStarted in 2021. Bex started off in the shop and moved into the office after finishing her A Levels. She’s the youngest member of our team and likes to keep the workplace entertained (she talks a lot!).
