Versatile Willow Hurdles
The natural and versatile panels blend seamlessly into any garden style and setting. Their rustic and natural appearance can enhance both country or urban gardens. Easy to install they can create a screen barrier in a very short amount of time. You can also create divisions in your garden in order to draw attention to focal points like flower beds or section off dining areas like decking.
Because the weave of willow hurdles allows a small amount of wind through they are great at withstanding high winds. Their construction helps to reduce the vortex effect which can be created by solid barrier fencing.
Alternatively, you can choose to grow climbers like clematis or honeysuckle over the hurdles. This helps to keep them together when they start to deteriorate and eventually turn them into a hedge. This is a great wildlife friendly fencing option.
If you’re not erecting right away store upright to allow the air to circulate between the panels. When securing your panels we recommend using 4″ half round stakes sunk well in to the ground, and then secured either with nails onto the posts as willow does not split or alternatively wire ties or cable ties.
Many people prefer to let the hurdles age naturally however a preserver can be used. A traditional way of preserving the willow panels is a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and turpentine. Alternatively a water based Cuprinol or Ronseal clear preserver would do the job to the same standard.
**Please enquire for lead time, panels can also be made to size if required.
