  • FAQs
  • What is Iroko?

Iroko is an extremely durable hardwood, making it an excellent choice for external gates and garden furniture. Iroko comes from sustainable sources in the Ivory Coast. The Iroko can be treated with an oil to ‘feed’ the timber or it can be left to weather grey naturally.

    What is Scandinavian Redwood?

Scandinavian Redwood is a softwood from Scandinavia. The trees are slow growing making them suitable for use in sheds and gates, where a good ‘clean’ finish is required.

What types of wood do you use for gates?

Our high quality, hand made wooden gates are available in three types of timber – tanalised softwood, Scandinavian redwood and iroko hardwood.

    How do I treat Iroko?

We recommend treating Iroko hardwood with a ‘Ronseal Hardwood Garden Furniture Oil’. This is a mixture of traditional oils with the benefit of a slight pigment to increase the depth of colour and product against UV fading.

How do I treat Scandinavian Redwood?

To treat Scandinavian Redwood we recommend Ronseal Shed and Fence Preserver as it’s easy to apply, protects against rot and decay and provides a colour.
