My gate won’t close – can timber expand?

Timber is a natural product, therefore we do expect a small amount of swelling and/or shrinkage – this is normal. This occurs with changes in the weather which  cause an increase or reduction of moisture in the timber. If we supplied and installed your gate within the last year we will happily come and adjust it for you. If we installed the gate over a year ago, there will be a small charge for us to visit. You may find you can tweak the hinges without going to the extreme of planing the gate down. If in doubt, and your gate won’t close properly, please get in touch with the team at John Bright Fencing.
