Water droplet clouds

Soggy September. Jobs for the garden

Written by Beth Bright

In the garden it’s been a month for waterproofs and water butts. One minute, glorious sunshine then the sky darkens and the heavens open. Time to pop into the shed/man cave/femme den and get on with a few jobs. Here’s our list of things to do as autumn comes knocking.

Secure and net ponds

Keep the kids and pets safe with fences and gates. Net water to prevent leaf clog (and protect fish).

Don’t forget new plants

Waterbutts

They love the rain so get that water butt going. We’ve got a great range of small, medium or large and slimline, broad or tall.

Divide perennials

More for next season. Just go carefully and make sure your knife is sharp.

Sow seeds

Seedlings in earth

Spring isn’t far away! Sowing seeds is one of the most cost effective ways to add to your garden.

Plant bulbs

You won’t regret it at Tulip time. Who doesn’t love a splash of colour as winter fades.

Cover up

Birds love a leafy veg patch so now’s the time to net.
