Goats go to The Melplash Show

Countdown to The Melplash Show

The grass has been mowed, the weather looks good (fingers crossed) and we are all set for show time on Thursday 24 August.

The Melplash Show dates back to 1847 and is held on beautiful riverside meadows between Bridport and West Bay. It began when two Dorset farmers set out to prove who was the best ploughman, each offering a £5 stake. That launched the Melplash Agricultural Society and the show quickly followed.

Today the Melplash show is a celebration of all things agricultural with farming and livestock exhibitors and many competitions, including the best Bridport Banger.

Come along and see us (and our hundred year old shepherd’s hut) on stand MR 117. It’s a chance to view our fencing, gates, sheds, furniture and animal homes. As this is Dorset, of course, there will be cake.
